This week was fun! I gave myself the challenge of actually wearing most of my 55+ hair accessories over the course of a month and so far it hasn’t been too much of a challenge, just really fun revamping my outfits with my many accessories. Umm, but I have a confession: when I counted the hair accessories, I kinda forgot about my hats, of which I have 5 (beanies included) so my total was actually 60. Umm, confession number two: I bought two new headscarves from Mr. Price this past week. They were on sale. And they’re really pretty. I know, I have a problem…ah well!
Me on Monday:
Fro was feeling fresh and clean after my Sunday wash day. I think last week took a bit of a toll with the blow drying and the pink hair spraying so I knew come Sunday I’d need to give it a bit of pampering. I’m loving adding some Vatika Oil to my Organic Root Stimulator Replenishing Conditioner for some extra TLC. This time I left it on for about 2 hours and my hair was soft and squidgy. Even combing it was more of a breeze. As usual, did my high puff on Monday to help stretch my fro out a bit more for the upcoming days.
On Tuesday I instantly knew I wanted to wear this scarf. I hadn’t worn it in months but I’ve always loved it yet I didn’t want to pull on my edges again so I just pinned my right side and tied the scarf all around but made sure to use my hair to cover it to give it that “bow” look. Loved!
For some reason, Fro was feeling very dry on Wednesday. So I’ve taken note and I think I may need to add a little bit more Avocado Oil into my daily spritz. I didn’t actually want to do any side pull ups but leaving the hump on its own is just looking a bit strange right now so I added them. I think it “tidies” the look up a bit.
I couldn’t wait to wear this scarf! I saw it a few weeks ago at Mr. Price and even put it in my trolley to buy but my conscience spoke to me and said: you already have 10000 head scarves and you barely wear them, get a pair of shoes instead. And I did (as part of that Cotton On crazy sale. My heart still beats fast when I think about it). Hmmpf. Fast forward to Wednesday and a lil trip to Mr. Price brought me together with it again but this time it was on sale! So despite the fact that I knew I have allll these other accessories to wear, I couldn’t wait to wear it. So much so that the accesssory I’d originally planned on wearing on Thursday was bumped off until next week haha. I love a good deal and I bagged it for R29.99. Bargain!
Friday featuring Nthasi M.:
To salute men and Movember, me and the girls at work decided to be inspired by guys and all wear ties and act manly for the day. I did my best to look masculine…with my pink brogues lol. But as I predicted, Nthasi definitely won the “look like a man” challenge, but in a sexy and yet still feminine way. LOVE that bow tie! And love when she styles her dreads that way. Hotness!
And now with our ultra manly ‘staches:
From quasi-masculine to ultra feminine. Saturday:
Another fab Mr. Price buy I saw that same day I saw the scarf but the Sandton City branch didn’t have my size. And to torture me further, I left the store and saw another girl rocking this dress! So when I saw it again at the other Mr. Price, (and on sale!) there was no doubt it was fate. Bagged it. I also hadn’t worn this scarf in literally at least a year. It’s been hiding away deep in my drawer so I’m so glad for this challenge. It’s making me fall in love again with my stuff. We went to our friend’s daughter’s birthday party and I thought this was the perfect day to debut this look. I knew I wanted my hair up but wasn’t sure if the scarf would sit okay. I styled it in four twist ups and left the section in front out and used my pins to create the ‘hang’ effect. LOVED!
