I’ve been looking forward to finally having my hair out and doing my first This Week’s Looks of this year. Well last week was it! After washing and DC’ing my hair on Saturday, I undid the weave base cornrows on Sunday. I decided to take it easy this past week to give my hair a break and tried to do some low maintenance and low manipulation styles throughout. What I’ve loved the outcome of: double flat twisting my hair. I’m sure that’s not the right term for it but I don’t know how else to call it. Basically, instead of twisting the hair strands once around each other then picking up extra hair to go along, I twisted the strands twice or thrice around. It makes such a difference! I had sort of abandoned doing flat twists as it didn’t really help with any curl creation so stuck to my mabutu but now I can easily do four double flat twists in under 10 minutes before wrapping and going to bed. I have to thank my darling friend Emma for that tip 😀 It’s not necessarily the neatest look but it’s decent, I even went to gym on Saturday with them on. Hey, I wasn’t looking too cute but it got the job done!
Me on Monday:
Tuesday: My first bun! (tutorial coming soon)
Aisha dress – Cotton On
Wednesday:
Shirt – Mr. Price. Skirt – Swap party. Tights – Primark. Boots – Cotton On
On Tuesday evening, I prepped my hair by keeping the previous day’s bun intact and just braided 4 mabutu in the front to give it that chunky curly look. On Wednesday morn it was super easy to just re-brush the sides to neaten it up and undid the mabutu as usual. Loving this style!
Thursday:
Hat & pants – Mr. Price. Tank – Bershka. Wedges – Cotton On
Friday: I was running so late for work so I left my evening flat twists in and just tied my scarf to hide my laziness. Lol, I managed to pull it off and my love for headscarves has been confirmed. They’re affordable, pretty and hide a bad/lazy hair day so well. Got many compliments that day but didn’t manage to take photos except this one. ‘Scuse the Blackberry quality photo.
Saturday: I left my hair in a free fro.
Sunday: After coming back home late on Saturday eve, I was way to tired to prep my hair that evening (I curse myself when I do that as the knots that arise from it just aren’t worth it). So I tied a scarf around with my hair poking out at the top and slept. On Sunday morning I spritzed my hair slightly with my Daily spritz and fluffed it out then put it in a high puff. After struggling to find my old faithful hair gel, I desperately grabbed one at Clicks on Saturday and decided to give it a test run on Sunday in case I didn’t like it and it could just get washed off. The results:
Dress – Cotton On. Sandals – Slipway Souk in Tanzania
Overall, a good week. Glad to have Fro almost fully in swing. Still resting from the protective style period so I need to make sure this next week continues with more low tension styles and less puffs! I need another go to style if I want to keep my edges.
waaooh!, you r beautiful Aisha.
I love your hair and all your looks…so beautiful! Your hairstyles make me impatient for my TWA to grow out so I can do more with it (currently on my 5th BC). I'm a new reader and your blog has quickly become one of my favourites! 🙂
Aww, thanks! Your hair will grow in no time. In the meantime, enjoy it whilst it's still a baby 😉
Love the looks. Some inspiration in there for me. Thanks for posting. X x
Thank you 😀
