Fro’s officially in hibernation mode.
I’ve been mentioning that winter’s well on its way. And with a temperature drop comes a hair style change. This, as of Sunday, is what I’m currently rocking:
I used my last bunch of afro kinky hair extensions from the US (thanks again Rukia, will be needing more ;)). Final Touch salon in Kelvin Village, Johannesburg hooked me up with the style. I’m very happy with the end result but wasn’t impressed when about 6 cornrows into it, the lady moved onto a new customer who wanted to get her hair relaxed. Ummm, ‘scuse me? What’s the point of booking an appointment with you if you put relaxer customers first? I HATE it when salons do that. Such a waste of my time. Not sure if I’ll be revisiting it or not yet, as the lady said afterwards that she’s the only one there on Sundays who could do both. You should have seen me in the chair once she began relaxing the woman next to me. I got so irrationally paranoid that even a fleck of relaxer might find its way onto my fro. I even shifted my chair slightly to give the chemicals less of a chance to make it onto my head, lol. Anyways, all’s well with fro and the only thing burning at that point was my anger. But I soon calmed down once she got back to me and finished my hair in about 2.5 hours.
I’ll be writing a post soon about how I prepped my hair before installing this style. I actually wanted to have a bit more of a design to the cornrow direction, but the lady wasn’t really getting me so I decided to keep it simple. Last few times stylists insisted they knew what I was saying when in fact they didn’t…well let’s just say my creative skills were very much needed to save the style and justify its price.
So, in conclusion… LOVE 😀
beautiful style!
it's funny that you're in winter, yet the trees are still lush green!

Love it! I should get a friend in the US too…this is so unfair.lol. Speaking of these bad hair stylist habits…I once walked out without even paying when they pulled that on me. Luckily my hair was already blow-dried and decent enough for me to step out on the street. lol
I think I might do that next time hey, too many times I've been pushed to the side back home in Tanzania, never thought it happened here!
BTW, I saw some hair that looked like afro kink at Jumbo cash and carry the other week. R50 a packet!!
WOW!!! its so beautiful sis 😀 LOL ive been watching too many of your Youtube videos i didnt check out this post 😀 im in love with this 😀
they made it gorgeous, you must definitely continue going there 😀
aaargh!!! @ the relaxer client thing, i know what you mean, its annoying!
Lol, thanks Fanta! Not sure I'll go there any time soon the relaxer things really pi**ed me off!
Looks great! I would like to do this style, how was it done? Is any of your hair left out?
The entire cornrow was made from adding the afro kinky extensions so no hair was 'left out'
Love this style. Beautiful!!!!
Thanks 🙂
love love love
Cheers!
The new style looks TOTALLY FAB and I will say this again Aisha, I TOTALLY DIG YOUR SENSE OF STYLE.
Thank you Deedee
Lol at ur paranoia! Am so firm with the salon, they now know not to even think of leaving my hair or I leave! Humpf!! Anyway, found some marley hair in cpt and did marley twists for two weeks, loved them but took it down to do marley crochet braids. Love, love my huge fro protective style;) will send u pics. Ur style really suits you, looks lovely*_*
Thanks Welzi. How on earth did you manage to find marley hair in SA??? I've been tring to hunt it down for years! How much? Do share?
hey dear, I found them in Main road, Mowbray. They are also available at this hair store near cavendish;) They were quite pricey at R150 a pack and I bought 4 packs but have only used 3 packs so far and I have actually saved money by getting three styles out of the 3 packs so far – marley twists that even my Reverend complimented me on, marley crochet braids and am getting a style similar to your current style next then the fibre can finally RIP!!!! I will donate the 4th pack to my sister who is also your subbie*_*
OMG Welzi!! We HAVE to talk. You said Marley hair right?..in SA?
Yes dear! Quite a few stores in cpt carry it but its so expensive. Anyway, am getting more from USA via a friend;) must make use of our connections!
