Wedding Season

So far, I have two weddings to go to in the next 5 months. I say so far because I get a “I’m engaged!!!!” text or call on average every couple of months now. But for this year, it’s 2…for now. Anywho, the first one is next week and the second is in December. Me being me, I’m starting to try and figure out what on earth to do with
this hair of mine and ‘build’ a rough timeline around the two events. Now I know December’s ‘ages’ away but it’s not just any wedding, it’s my dear sister’s and I’m a bridesmaid. I’ve gotta represent for my family!

So what are my options?

Well, I know many of you would probably scream 30 Days, 30 Updos!! And yes, that’s obviously a very real option for me. I did the challenge precisely for occassions like these. Again, me being me, I’d like to explore all the options before making a decision. But since we’re on the topic, here are my 30 Updos’ options for wedding # 1:

In order to rock any of those styles for next week’s wedding, I’m going to have to keep my hair ‘free’ til then. Which theoretically is what I was planning on doing when I still had my twists in. Now my twists are out I’m having a bit of a hard time with Fro. I think I’m quite shaky with my routine which is undergoing some changes (yes, again!) I haven’t had to deal with it much during winter so it’s a bit weird seeing my hair behaving how it is. As I mentioned in my previous post, I’m also phasing out Afro Botanics so I’m quite the product whore at the moment. And I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with my hair for the rest of winter. One thing I’m keen on is just doing different cornrow styles with my own hair every few weeks. This way my hair’s off my shoulders, it’s less manipulation and not as hectic on the wallet as other protective styles. Anywho, as I usually do when I’m have a bit of a hair qualm, I took to Pinterest for some ideas…

Then there’s my sister’s wedding to which I think I’m going to have to have a really wow style. Thankfully, my sister’s only bridezilla cell in her body has asked that we bridesmaids wear our hair off of our faces. Doable. But the questions I’m facing now are whether I leave my hair as is and style it myself on the day or braid my hair or do a braid & weave combo. Hmmm. There’s no question that whatever I do it’ll be when I’m actually home so I get more bang for buck. Here are some yummy styles:

Cant wait to see what you ultimately decide to do to Fro. I like style number 2 for wedding one. The braided pomps are also a great idea. An updo with added marley hair could be an option or you could try some flexi rods or perm rods with an updo.

I think this is so real Aisha, it is with such occasions that I personally get TEMPTED to flat iron (relaxer to be honest) my hair. For some reason these occasions present an opportunity to shine or outshine, and my brain still thinks bone straight hair when it comes to that! So, please post some more on YouTube for inspiration.
