What I Tried: Mizani True Textures

It’s been a long time coming! I began using these products late last year and have been dying to share my thoughts on them but life (read procrastination) got in the way. Anyways, I figured I should finally get to writing this review before I begin my all natural products experiment. Since I was still relaxed, I’ve loved Mizani products but could never really afford them. I bought this range last year at a L’Oreal sale so I won’t be able to disclose the regular retail price of these products but I do know that they’re otherwise exclusively sold only in certain salons and range from R100 – R300+. So another thing that’s caused the delay of this review; my hesitation to use the products so much that they run out. Okay, I might be giving away my conclusion *whispers*they’re that great!

Currently using this every other week.

The Good Stuff

     Smells scrumdidillyumptious!

     Lathers great

A little goes a long way

     Doesn’t dry my hair out

I kid you not, this gave Fro her first orgasm. Yes, I said it.

The Bad Stuff

     Ummmm…nothing

Currently using this every other week

The Good Stuff

Can’t get over the scent, it’s so sweet and yummy!

After washing, I can actually feel and see my tiny corkscrew coils. It’s much more defining than anything I’ve used.

The Bad Stuff

    Nothing!

Currently using this as a treatment every other week, after shampooing.

The Good Stuff

     It goes on nicely

     Also smells yummy

The Bad Stuff

It doesn’t scream ‘treatment’. I don’t feel like it makes my hair extra special but it works nicely as a regular deep conditioner

—————————————————————————————————————————————-

Currently using this a couple of times a week to slick edges and slightly hold my puffs

The Good Stuff

     I’m like a broken record…smells like heaven

It provides a very light hold so doesn’t leave your hair crunchy or flaky

The Bad Stuff

Didn’t define any of my coils 🙁
The hold is too light for some styles
    It contains mineral oil 🙁

Mizani True Textures Moisture Stretch

Currently using this after washing or co-washing as a creamy leave-in.

The Good Stuff

     Again, smells YUMMY!!

The Bad Stuff

    It contains mineral oil 🙁
Although it says it will help stretch your hair, I’ve found it doesn’t even begin to work on my resistant coils.

Fro says:

That’s two thumbs up!

And so although I’ve been rationing them, my products are beginning to run out 🙁 I honestly haven’t experienced a line that’s generally made Fro as happy as this. If it wasn’t for the hefty price (and one or two products containing mineral oil) this would be my go to natural hair product line for sure. Not many to choose from in SA but if your wallet allows it, check out your nearest professional salon for Mizani products or contact them on their Facebook page.

I am intrigued by your dislike of mineral oil. Why is this?

Hi Aisha! Firstly I LOVE YOUR BLOG! and I'm really liking these reviews your doing. Seems like this Mizani line is great and can work for our hair but I've never seen them around. How do I get a hold of them? Thanks, Lerato.
