So I ended up doing my hair in the car. Let me explain…
My friend’s wedding was on Saturday in Port Edward. We drove down to Durban (from Joburg) on Friday and spent Friday night there. I had already pretty much decided on this style by Thursday last week but the Durban weather began to make me change my mind. It was so humid, my stretched out fro that I’d spent the previous few days prepping had pretty much completely shrunk. Although it made my hair soft, spongey and bouncy, it already looked like I had the haircut I’m planning on getting. So come Saturday morning, I thought maybe I can just rock a chic fro to the wedding. Then I remembered the special occasion and how it deserved something a little more. Port Edward was a bit over an hour’s drive away so I figured I can still do something on our way there.
I also rocked this hairstyle on day 27 of my 30 Updos challenge. Tutorial will be live on Youtube soon. With my hair pins, some gel and my brush, I split my hair into two sections with a little bit at the front that I pinned away. I parted my hair across the middle and did two big interconnecting flat twists. I then gelled my edges before tying my head scarf around it to polish up the look and left that on the rest of the journey. I even arrived at the hotel that way.

Only after getting dressed, I removed my scarf and the twists I’d done in the front to create a lil’ bump. I was surprisingly very happy with the end result, considering I only had the passenger car mirror to see what was going on!
And the complete look:
All in all, it was such a beautiful wedding! Filled with laughter, tears and most of all love. Good times.
