2014 Protective Style 2: ???

I can’t deny it anymore, winter is at our doorstep. Actually, it’s already opened the door and peered inside to see if anyone’s home. And although I hate the cold (read: I become a troll when the temperature is below 20) I do love the idea of a new change in hair.

Well, it’s that time again! And as usual, I’m stumped (surprise, surprise). My regular readers would know that every time I decide to put my hair away, I always never really know what style I’m going to rock until…well, the day itself. My current go-to stylist even knows this and always receives several different reference photos Whatsapp’d to her in the weeks leading up to my appointment. I thought that thinking about my current hair and personal needs will help me make the decision of what to do for my next protective style.

At the moment, time is so precious and very scarce. So of course I need something low maintenance. The past couple of years, I’ve always opted for styles many would attribute to being ‘more natural’ than others. To me, a weave is a weave is a weave! And although I LOVED my afro weave I did earlier this year, I have other extensions that have been waiting on the sidelines to be used. Since going natural almost 3 years ago, I haven’t really rocked a straight style. I guess I haven’t really missed it so would always opt for curly or wavy ‘dos. So I’m actually leaning more towards something like this:

But then, I die when I see photos like this:

ARGHHH!!

What always makes me chicken out when it comes to braiding is the time it takes to install! And as mentioned, time is oh so scarce for me right now. I know the above braids are more chunky than the norm so the style will cut down n time but still. I absolutely hate spending anything more than 4 hours on my hair now. Sigh, what to do? #lifeofablackgirl

I love the idea of braiding, but you have to be very careful to coz it can also damage your hair. I like the look with the bangs!

I really liked both looks but in the end, time was of essence especially after my stylist did me wrong! I just wanted to get it done and go about my business.

lol i have the exact problem with braid. I've been planning to put them for months now but the idea of sitting for the whole day just turns me off

Right?! It's a waste of a day for me and I hardly have any spare time as it is. Then there's the back pain the day after. I wish I could buy a braided weave…
