Kinky, 4C, coarse hair – whatever you want to call it, if you have hair that looks similar to mine and are struggling to find others on YouTube, this post is for you.
After watching Jouelzy’s video the other day on texture discrimination on YouTube, I was so glad she said something about this. It’s a great watch, please make sure to see it. The reason why I launched my YouTube channel was because I felt that at the time, I couldn’t find many women with hair that looked like mine doing inspiring tutorials and other hair videos. There were some I came across back in 2011/2012, but I also wasn’t feeling like they had the whole package – fun to watch, informative, decent lighting etc. So I thought, let me share with you all who I like to watch in the 4C category of hair. All of these ladies are cute, engaging and show how beautiful and versatile 4C hair.
Don’t get me wrong, I do also subscribe to other natural haired women who aren’t classified with having the same hair texture as me. I believe that you can still learn from others. I just wanted to share with you who else on the internet has hair that looks like yours 😉
Here’s my round up of my five faves…
I had seen Ijeoma’s photo a couple of times on Pinterest but only saw her blog URL about a month or two ago. And once I landed on the YouTube channel, I was hooked! It has an awesome mix of style tutorials for women looking for inspiration. Be sure to check out her response to Jouelzy’s texture discrimination video here.
I subscribed to Natural Me 4C’s channel last year because her energy just spoke to me. She’s super bubbly, has simple and easy ways to style your hair and isn’t obsessed with straightening her hair. I love that she embraces her shrinkage and shows how beautiful that can be.
I’m not sure how I came across Jouelzy’s channel but I’m glad I did. Also last year sometime. Jouelzy’s videos are a mix of style tutorials, reviews, fun and have a ton of great advice and tips. I just love how she does her videos. They’re entertaining and honest – perfect combination for me.
Okay so she’s not completely natural anymore 🙁 but her channel has great style and product videos from when she was fully natural that are still very relevant. She’s so fun to watch, has been documenting her struggles with her hair and she’s transitioning now so watch her journey back to natural.
Of all YouTubers, I feel like my hair acts most like her hair. Her channel also has a nice selection of styles that can suit all ages, not just the trendy over the top stuff. She also features some styles for little girls. So if you’re a more mature or conservative natural, I’d suggest this channel for you.
Share the love and subscribe to these ladies’ channels. As Ijeoma of Klassy Kinks said, we 4C girls need to support each other first before expecting others to follow suit.
Happy watching! Who are your faves?
How do i determine my hair type?
Some other good vloggers are 4c Hair Chick and KinkyStyles1980, though kinkyStyles tends to focus more on protective styling. There's also MissCinnamonCake, who has 4B/4C hair. She does a lot of product and hair reviews as well as styling tutorials.
I love Ijeoma of Klassy Kinks. She came to Kenya last year (or was it early this year) and she's more spectacular in person. Although sadly her hair was braided up for her trip.
I love your blog and youtube!Especially the 30 day, 30 hair-do's seriously.
Really cute and fun and straight to the point with tutorials! 🙂

Aww, thank you! So glad you like them 🙂
This is fabulous! I watch quite a few natural videos, but I was only aware of Glam Fun and Klassy Kinks. I need to go check out YOUR videos! Hope the wedding planning is going well. I was disappointed when i was unable to have half of my wedding in Botswana:(
