30

It’s not everyday that you get to celebrate the day your life started. It’s not every birthday that you get to celebrate a milestone birthday.

Yup, this week, I turned 30. On Monday 16th November to be exact. It got me thinking, why is turning 30 such a big deal? 10, I get. 18, yes. 21, ummm still don’t get that one unless you’re American. But why 30? Why has society all of a sudden labelled you as ‘old’ or expect to by now you  should have your ish together. Or is it as simple as it’s a new decade, therefore it’s big just by that virtue. Either way, I knew I wanted to something different to celebrate this one. And so I did.

My husband got an intimate group of my favourite people together last weekend to celebrate and party in style. And what better way to do so than on a boat! It was a gorgeous summer day as we cruised the Vaal river. We had the entire boat to ourselves with delish canapés, bubbly, laughter and dancing.

My hair? A birthday gift from Bounce Essential Hair. I’m wearing 18″ Afro Kinky Clip Ins to give me some mega volume. As you can see, the wind was real that day but Fro and its helpers held on like troopers!

Here’s to being grown, reaching another decade and a reason to celebrate life.

Here’s to 30!

Hey Wandile, I decided not to do that, I think it's a bit pretentious to be honest. Especially considering I still have a lot to learn!

You're a beautiful woman, and you continue to help us keep our crowns firm…we'll be tuning in for the salt and pepper looks in another decade or so, and later the fluffy whites. It's gonna be fun!!
