#ISaveAfros Live: A Live Tutorial featuring Shea Moisture

Imagine you’re with a bunch of friends (who are all natural), eating, chatting, getting tips on how to care for your hair better – all while doing your hair together. My second solo event of the year and my first live tutorial, #ISaveAfros Live happened last week on Saturday 8th September, and it was a beautiful experience.

It’s an idea I’ve had for a while: doing my hair while showing my guests how to do it on theirs. Sharing my natural hairstyles was always my first love (remember my 30 Days, 30 Updos challenge) and I have over 50 style videos on my YouTube channel showing you how to do it. As you know, I absolutely LOVE meeting you in person – it just takes it to another level. And those who have met me know that I can talk about natural hair forever. Combine the two and you’ve got a day of fabulous girliness. Add some amazing hair products, a beautiful salon, and some sun and it’s natural girl heaven! As I said on my Instagram page, I live for this; helping you embrace and love your natural hair, as much as I love mine.

I hosted #ISaveAfros Live at Noir Hair Studio, in Bryanston. It’s one of the few salons that I regularly recommend going to. They’ve taken care of me and Fro since last year. We chatted…a lot…and almost got carried away with doing so because every single woman had a story to tell. I got to listen to a wide group of women of different ages, backgrounds and hair journeys. And then we did our hair together! I got to show my guests how to use some of my favourite products on the market: Shea Moisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus line. They also had an exclusive early bird opportunity to try two new products that’ll only hit shelves later this month; Jojoba Oil Ucuuba Butter Laydown Laquer and Braid Up Conditioning Gel. I’m sure you can imagine how yummy our hair was smelling using these goodies.

What I loved the most about the day? How everyone got along as if we were all friends. It always so beautiful to see how hair unites us. Thank you to everyone who entered my giveaways for seats. If you’ve been following me silently, please engage with my content, so I can become familiar with your name. I hope to meet you at another event.

Before I end this post, I want to especially thank:

The Shea Moisture team, for supporting and helping me make this event happen! You can get Shea Moisture products from Dischem, Clicks and it will be available at Edgars and Foschini stores this month.

The ten beautiful, funny and sweet ladies who won seats. You were the perfect group of women to host, teach and share hair stories with. Thank you for spending your day with me. I appreciate you all.

Noir Hair Studio for the beautiful venue, proving to my guests that great hair salons exist.

Glamour for contributing to the fabulous goody bag.

Here’s to saving more afros!

Thank you for selecting me! I had a blast!
I realised that afternoon that that was the 1st time in a very long time where the only person I knew was myself! LOL!
You chose stunning ladies! Karen and I chatted about how wonderful it was to be with women who were kind an lovely with each other.

I felt so energised after the event… I couldn’t stop talking about it!

Thank you for the creating the platform for us to share our stories, and to share that time with you.

    Sending you tons of love!
