Newbie Natural: Deciding to Go Natural

I always say it: jump. If you’ve seen
another woman in real life or online or on TV with natural hair and
you’ve been toying with the idea, jump. You never know where you’ll end
up. And I say this for pretty much any life decision that plagues my
mind. If I’m thinking about it so much, I must at least try it…got
nothing to lose…life’s too short.

Newbie Natural: To BC or to not BC?

That’s the question many women ask
themselves when they decide to stop relaxing their hair. Not all women
go and chop their hair off. Some women prefer to wait awhile until their
hair has some length. Others jump right in. I wasn’t too sure. I knew
I’d stop relaxing but I wasn’t sure yet how to go about it. These were
my thoughts, almost three months after my last relaxer…

Newbie Natural: How I Prepared for My BC (big chop)

So you’ve decided to cut your hair. The
way I see it, it doesn’t really matter how long after your last relaxer

3 inches or 6 months’ worth of growth before chopping but I couldn’t
wait. And I’m glad I didn’t because it gave me time to fight and bond
with my hair and really go through all of the stages being natural comes
with. From scratch. Here’s what I was thinking a few days before I chopped off my relaxed hair…

Newbie Natural: How to Look & Feel More Girly With a TWA

You’ve just taken the plunge and chopped off your hair. Now you look
like a boy – not really… I mean, your hair doesn’t define your
femininity, right? But unfortunately we do live in a world where longer
hair = being womanly. Okay, so let’s work with getting our girliness
back!

Newbie Natural: Styling Your TWA

Now you’ve got your basic tools, you can begin to style your baby fro.
Contrary to popular belief and depending on how short your baby fro is,
there are a few things you could do to change up your look. Nothing
drastic, as of course you need length for more drama but enough options
for you to not feel like you’re in a rut until your TWA (teeny weeny
afro) graduates to something bigger. Here are some of the styling
options I rocked…
